I'm right there with you, honestly.

Let's all just agree Fillip was the problem and move on.

Agreed to a degree, but the problem of playing safe, low risk veterans over rookies is a league wide issue.

In the 1982-83 season, former sabre Rob McClanahan had his best NHL season at the age of 24

in 78 nhl games he had 22 goals and 48 points, also chipped in 7 points in 9 playoff games

then never sniffed the nhl again

interesting

responded in the other blog, it's an issue in general at any job. underperforming old men are allowed to perpetuate a toxic work environment instead of being pushed into being wal-mart greeters like they should be.

They should be. Sorry. They actually get to collect social security.

But in conservative towns, it's almost the opposite. Younger workers are being pushed out for not fitting the "work culture" that is stagnant and toxic, in favor of older workers who coast to retirement.

The worst part is that all of these companies are going to be in for an extremely rude awakening when they see how much they're going to have to pay out to the guys who retired with them, years past full collection (65).

I see a problem with division of labor - young and old should be in the service sector and the middle-age groups should be doing the brunt of the work. Instead, it's the other way around and everyone loses out.

On the real I’m getting tired of us rushing players let him develop his game in junior and let him be the mvp for team Canada let him gain some confidence and then let him play out the year here the last seven games
- gerbe75pts

Had to carry this over. On the topic of Cozens. Gerbe can drop truth bombs, sometimes.

I try not to use this line of thinking most of the time but I honestly believe the difference in thinking could be a generational thing.

Us old (frank)ers were just thrown into the water and yelled at “Swim!” And we figured it out. Maybe it wasn’t the best way, but we learned fast because the alternative was devastating. We learned from our mistakes, and learned mistakes aren’t fatal.

You younger guys get bring along in everything far more gradually. But I think you’re less able to brush off mistakes.

- Der Kaiser

You also aged too fast because of this. Our generation will be better equipped for longevity because we weren't "thrown to the wolves" and forced to figure it out. We really believe in helping each other and trying to get along instead of being self-absorbed and doing anything to have more than our neighbor.

Seems like you have a strong bias against older workers for no other reason save that they're older.

As for a work culture that is "stagnant and toxic" you're free to move on to another job or another line of work if it's not to your liking.

Gerbe is completely biased against Cozens, who played exceptionally well at the Prospect Camp, which he wasn't even supposed to be available for, Gerbe hasn't said a word about the impressive "Rehab" the kid put in after the injury to his thumb/hand, according to all sources Cozens worked extremely hard and not only exceeded the expected healing time, but gained muscle mass during the Rehab. I'm not giving the kid a free ride into the NHL but to constantly suggest Gerbe knows more about Where and When Cozens should be playing this year. Cozens needed to heal and rehab in order to possibly compete for this roster.

Step 1: Can the kid heal and rehab before training camp.
Yes, and ahead of schedule.

Step 2: Will he be cleared to play against NJ and Pittsburgh against players in his age group?
Yes, and played extremely well, out performing expectations, not to mention overcoming any lingering effects of hand injury.

Step 3: Sabres Open Training Camp :

If Cozens plays strong and fast, earns a 9-game tryout with the team he will get it.

If Cozens shows he can compete at the NHL level, then he stays.

Concluding that you already know where he should play now, before Step 3 is an obvious attempt at using the cliche "rushing" players upon Dylan. Fans of Cozens don't want him to be rushed into anything, but we also don't place him in a league where he will spin his wheels if he "Shows" he can compete.
Gerbes is probably just trying to soften the Cole Muffler hype by dampening Cozens

I have a bias against people who just plain feel like they're entitled to not work simply because of age or time spent within a workplace.

America, right now, is stagnant and toxic. There is no denying this. And no need to explain or delve into why, because we all know what's going on in this country and world - massive civil unrest.

The "if you don't like it, you can leave" attitude is worn out, to be quite honest. I like hearing it from the captain of the Buffalo Sabres when a cry-ass team mate wants to leave because the grass is greener on the other side. Not from those who accept complacency and mediocrity. God forbid I expect people and institutions to be better and healthier to interact with?

The same attitude applies to Buffalo sports. People constantly attack anyone who actively criticizes what has been an awful product, and a mediocre one before that, for a few decades now. The Bills and Sabres. We want results, not promises and flaunting of wealth. The turnover within both organizations is borderline insanity. And the fan-base blindly follows. Circle the wagons, indeed - we truly are a fair-weather, band-wagon fan-base for the most part.

Oh man, now the Blues... if the Sabres don't drop the jerseys they had in development - The black Goat-Head and the OG unis - it's going to be another back look on them. Literally every team that's doing it is doing the right thing by at least wearing them for a few games a year.

Maybe he lost his love of the game?
Or did fans not like his postgame press conferences.
Perhaps his analytics were not up to snuff.
Did he get into a parking lot auto accident?
Did he love or hate olives?
Microwave chicken wings?

Many possibilities...
